Overview

Nestled in the heart of Salamanca at C. Pozo Amarillo, 23, RESTAURANTE ISIDRO offers a dining experience that gracefully blends traditional Spanish flavors with an imaginative touch. Renowned for its rich menu featuring classics like Bistec de Ternera, Rabo de Toro, and Lubina a la Espalda, the restaurant caters to those seeking both authenticity and creativity in their culinary journey.

The space itself is an unexpected delight. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a unique ambience—vivid, almost dreamlike décor complemented by subtle surprises such as live goldfish swimming beside your table. This imaginative setup, including a psychedelic color scheme in the restrooms, sets the tone for an experience far removed from the ordinary. The atmosphere is intimate yet vibrant, appealing to couples, families, and curious travelers alike.

Service at ISIDRO reflects a sincere dedication to hospitality. Attentive staff provide attentive explanations of both the visible and secret items on the menu, creating a personalized touch rarely found elsewhere. Guests can expect thoughtful gestures such as a generous presentation of various olive oils alongside freshly baked bread, and even refill offers—a nod to the rich Mediterranean tradition of savoring olive oil with every bite. A flower offered to female guests upon departure adds a delicate flourish that lingers as a memory of genuine warmth.

Culinary highlights showcase a broad spectrum of flavors. The Ensalada de la Casa surprises with an inventive blend of smoked salmon, bonito, and crunchy seeds, balancing freshness with depth. Heartier dishes like the confit lamb and the tender bull’s tail embrace slow-cooked richness that speaks to local culinary heritage. Their desserts, including a notably exquisite pistachio cake, cap the meal with sophistication and delight. Whether opting for a warming Sopa de Mariscos or indulging in creamy croquettes, each plate reveals care in preparation and presentation.

The restaurant’s location close to Salamanca’s famous Plaza provides added convenience and charm, making ISIDRO an ideal stop after exploring the historic city center. The clientele ranges from devoted locals to international visitors seeking a tasteful immersion into Spanish gastronomy. The restaurant’s ability to balance quality, generous portions, and a whimsical dining atmosphere creates a memorable outing suitable for a variety of occasions.

While some minor suggestions include refining the bread choice and clarifying menu ingredients to enhance the experience further, these details scarcely detract from the overall positive impression. In fact, the combination of attentive service, thoughtful traditional recipes, and a playful yet cozy environment solidifies RESTAURANTE ISIDRO as a standout destination within Salamanca’s vibrant restaurant scene.

For anyone craving not just a meal but a full sensory journey into Spanish culinary culture, ISIDRO promises a unique and warmly inviting experience that truly leaves a lasting impression.

Wow There are not many places (if any), I would give a five star rating to, but this place is truly exceptional. The whole experience leaves you feeling as if you have just visited something out of a Willy Wonka dream and everything from the elaborate, decor in the restaurant complete with live goldfish swimming at your table to the surreal psychadelic colours which hit you as you walk into the Toilet, tells you that this is a place you are not likely to forget in a hurry. The attention to detail is topped off with a flower for the ladies when you leave after paying the bill which considering the quality and maybe overly generous portion sizes, I was sure there had been a mistake with - which they had not. For this once in a lifetime experience I cannot recommend Isidrio enough, and for anyone who wants something a little out of the ordinary it is bound to impress guests of all ages, as can be seen from the countless numbers of happy customers when we visited.

Very good meal near the famous Plaza. Food is very good. I had the homemade gazpacho and the steak was excellent. They also brought out three different olive oils in which to dip my bread. Once the owner saw me making the scarpetta with the soup, he asked me if I wanted it topped off. Wow. I'll be back.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a restaurant close to our hotel; we then stumbled across this place and it was an experience never to forget. It started with us being the only ones in the restaurant (it soon became busier around 21:00) and we were placed in a nice private table surrounded by Valentine’s Day references. The service was swift and super attentive, with the waiters explaining all the options on and off the menu (there were several extra things not on the menu which is always nice to have). They then came with a big loaf of bread, on the house, and three different brands of olive oil. Afterwards, the main course was delicious and plentiful. The highlight for us was, however, the dessert. One of the best desserts we have ever had; a pistache cake with a ton of extra delicious things next to it. Absolutely amazing! At last they offered a ‘chupito’ on the house and after paying they offered yet another one! The owner explained us the story of the restaurant and gave us some flowers upon leaving. An experience we will never forget!

potato chips unnecessary skip them it cheapens the place, fix the bread - it is way too dense, substitute for multigraine country style baguette lighter and nicer; please on the menu describe the fact that there's tuna inside the mixed salad what an unexpected bonus; and note any dish that has eggs in it, such as those that are revuelto & tortilla do not mean huevos in most tounges . super cool that 3 bottles of olive oil were brought to the table but this was only when olive oil was requested - spain produces more olive oil than Italy and yet in Italy it is automatically brought to the table whenever there is bread - you should do the same. spreading flower petals on the table during the dine by the slim youge blond waitress is a very memorable experience, also wrapping the cork around the bottle foil is a nice touch, add cafe to postres automatically in the menu de dia - it leaves the guest with a positive after-taste

We found out about this restaurant in the Rick Steve’s guide book of Salamanca . We were not disappointed. From the ambiance, to the delicious appetizers and main course. The dessert presentation of chocolate cake, Chocolate ice cream with a sugar cone and cotton candy was quixotic and inspiring. I enjoyed the Garlic soup and roast suckling pig. The meat had flavor through out and the skin perfectly crisp. My companions enjoyed their entrees as much as I did. Of course the wine selection was tremendous. The cost, very reasonable and much less than a similar meal back home in California. If you come Salamanca, forget the Michelin restaurants, come to Isidros.
